Children’s Day speech for students: English and Hindi, 1 and 2 minutes

Speeches · 5 minute read · Class 1 to 8 · Updated

Is your child speaking on stage this 14 November? Below are original speeches you can use as they are or shorten: a 1-minute speech for little ones, a 2-minute speech for older students, a Hindi speech, and 10 lines for essays and assemblies. At the end are tips that help even shy children speak clearly.

1. 1-minute speech (Class 1–3)

Good morning to our respected principal, teachers and my dear friends.

Today is 14 November, Children’s Day. It is the birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, our first Prime Minister. He loved children very much, and children called him Chacha Nehru. He always wore a red rose on his coat.

Chacha Nehru said children are like flowers in a garden. They need love, care and good schools to grow. So today, let us promise to study well, be kind to everyone and make our country proud.

Happy Children’s Day! Thank you.

2. 2-minute speech (Class 4–8)

Good morning to our respected principal, teachers and my dear friends. I am honoured to say a few words on Children’s Day.

Every year on 14 November, India celebrates Bal Diwas on the birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, born in 1889 in Allahabad, now Prayagraj. He was a freedom fighter and became the first Prime Minister of independent India in 1947. Even with so much work, he always found time for children, and they lovingly called him Chacha Nehru.

Nehru believed that the future of India would be built by its children. That is why he cared so much about education, science and new institutions for learning. He wanted every child to be curious, to ask questions and to dream big.

Children’s Day is not only a day for fun and sweets. It reminds us that every child has the right to learn, to play, to be safe and to be loved — and that many children in our country still do not have these things. We can help by sharing our books and toys, by being kind, and by never laughing at someone who is different.

I would also like to thank our teachers and parents, who work every day so that we can grow. Today, let us promise to work hard, stay honest and become good citizens, just as Chacha Nehru hoped.

Happy Children’s Day to all my friends. Thank you.

3. Hindi speech (बाल दिवस भाषण)
